Adventures Back East

October 1 - 7, 2008
A couple of weeks ago, my mom called me and said "Sarah and I are going to Boston to visit Leah. What are you going to do?" HELLO! I can't have my two sisters and my mom hanging out without me! Obviously I had to book my ticket right away. Thank goodness for frequent flier miles! We headed out on Wednesday, October 1.
Mom & Sarah at the Airport while we were waiting for Leah
We got into Boston and headed straight to the North End to have dinner at the most amazing Italian Restaurant - Giacomo's. Mom and Leah had butternut squash ravioli, I had pumpkin tortellini, and Sarah had chicken parmesan. It was awesome food!

After that, we headed to Mike's Pastry. Can't go to the North End without getting some cannolis, right? Well, I can...cannolis are gross! The other girls loved them, though.
We drove around for a while to see the city at night and then headed back to Leah's house. She lives in a really cute apartment above a store. She has three really great roommates that were so nice to put up with us.
The “Bobbsie Twins”...dubbed by the employees of The Eye Institute of Boston (Leah's work) because of our bright pink eyeshadow. Sarah tried to convince me that I could get away with wearing pink eyeshadow...we'll see if I am ever daring enough to do it outside of vacation. Hmm...
The next day Leah had to work, so me, Sarah, and mom walked the
Freedom Trail to Faneuil Hall ......and learned some history along the way.
We picked up Leah from work and headed to Vermont to go leaf peeping.

It was absolutely beautiful!

Mom, Sarah, & Leah - this was at a rest stop somewhere in Vermont or New Hampshire

We had tons of fun on on the way to Sharon, VT

which is the birthplace of Joseph Smith.
We went to the Trapp Family know, The Sound of Music family.

On Friday, we went to Glouster and then up to Rockport. We had a great day shopping in a cute little town. Leah knew of this cool lighthouse that’s not really available to the public and you have to go down this little private road to get to it. There weren’t very many people there, so it was really nice.

Boats at dock in Rockport.
We ended the day at Kimball Farm, which is known for their ice cream. It was delicious!

Saturday we got up really early and headed down to New York. My cousin’s wife has a connection through her work that has an apartment in the city. It was a great place!
We went to all the normal touristy sites and had so much fun! We went to The Little Mermaid on Broadway, Times Square, Rockefeller Center, and the Statue of Liberty to name a few. New York was great as always!

This was part of the Berlin Wall and was displayed in Battery Park

On Monday, we drove back to Boston. We went through Connecticut, which was beautiful. On our way to Rhode Island, we found this super cute pumpkin patch called The Farmer’s Daughter. There were the most creative displays of all sorts of squash and gourds. We were there for so long just walking around and snapping pictures.

We got to Newport, RI and saw all the mansions. We went on part of the cliff walk and, again, took tons of pictures.
Alas, it was time to leave...We left and returned home on Tuesday and had to get right back to life. Thanks Leah for having us and showing us such a great time!!!
